Whitby Memories

Well, my first April Whitby Goth Weekend has come and gone.
Time to document the fun for the future, when I might not remember it.
Edit: Decided to put in a cut, because it ended up being just a tad longer than I expected.

Thursday night:
We arrived late, [livejournal.com profile] thedarkfairy had cooked us a lovely dinner (even though it had mushrooms in it) and we ate quickly before heading out to the Resolution. It was hot, and smoky and crowded, but [livejournal.com profile] narcisse_dei managed to find a cute young thing... and lose desperately at pool to her.
Back at the flat, we chatted and then went to bed.

Friday Morning:
I woke up at the crack of noon. Everyone else had already been out shopping, but they went shopping again with me. I was a very good Cassandra and did NOT go to the wool shop Bobbins without [livejournal.com profile] thedarkfairy, I waited until she came back so we could go together (I'm building this karma up now... you'll see why later). I was very successful at shopping, I bought some wool at Bobbins to make a dice bag (this wool is much less evil than the "jellyfish skin wool") I also purchased a very gothy outfit from the bring-and-buy (it has a pointy collar, and a long skirt with an attached train. I also bought a barginous skirt from the ... stall that sells clothing for curvy women. I wore the pointy collar top with the other skirt to the Spa later (someone ACTUALLY complemented my outfit. I was so excited! -- well, to be honest, they complemented my collar, but that's enough for me!) After the shopping, we went back to the house and changed for dinner, at the Italian place (I should really learn the name of it!) which was fabulous and reasonable - as always. ([livejournal.com profile] thedarkfairy and I each managed about 2/3 of a bottle of wine during dinner, but it was only 9.8% so that's ok...) After dinner it was up to the spa. The bands were good ([livejournal.com profile] fnord7 enjoyed them all very much) but Fairy could not be prised out of the pink room to see the band we had dragged ourselves all the way up to the top of the spa to see. I hung out in the Pink Room for a fair bit of the evening, where it was quiet, cool and full of interesting people. I met Robin, Ruth, [livejournal.com profile] short_mort, [livejournal.com profile] strawberryfrog, Bernard, and Chris (I may have met some of those people Saturday night... it's a bit fuzzy). All in all, it was a lovely time. Back in the flat, we did NOT play games after the spa as we'd said we would... well, there's always tomorrow.

Saturday Morning:
Again with the waking up at the crack of noon. We headed to the arcade, where we played Pirate Golf, Bowlingo, and I played Pacman money eating game, among others. Afterward, [livejournal.com profile] thedarkfairy, [livejournal.com profile] narcisse_dei, and [livejournal.com profile] glassrat had to go to pick up their goodies at the bring-and-buy. Fnord7 and I were on our own, and I got to do something I've always wanted to do in Whitby. Sex at the Abbey at midn.... no wait... I mean a boat ride. Yes, we went on the Bark Endeavor, which was fun, and a bit rollercoaster like. Afterward, [livejournal.com profile] glassrat called and wanted to go for some tea (actually she said 'a brew' which confused me into thinking that she wanted to go to a pub. If you don't know why, ask an American). So we headed off. And this is where the karma comes in. She wanted to go to the Shepherd's Purse. And we went. Without [livejournal.com profile] thedarkfairy. And I had cake. *hangs head* Oh well. It was yummy cake. Afterward we went back to the flat to get ready for the evening. We had a quick bite and got dressed. I wore my corset and my 'dancing skirt' (although I didn't do much dancing). Again it was a nice night, some time in the band room, some time in the Pink Room, chatting with people and meeting new people. The bat raffle was that night, and I won a t-shirt (with a wicker man on it) and a nodding cat (*I* call it a bobble-head cat). I also bought a Cruxshadows t-shirt which cause Fnord7 to go back to the flat, which started an avalanche of goodies being sent back to the flat with him. He was pretty good natured about it, and pleased he didn't miss much of the bands by going. Once again, there were no games, just chatting and sleeping. There's always tomorrow. Laughton's ends earlier than the Spa, we'll certainly be able to play games then.

Sunday Morning:
Noonish. We head to the Metropole to eat lunch, because both DarkFairy and I think we've seen a sign saying they do Sunday Lunch. We were wrong. But the pub food there was excellent, and it was near the football grounds so it was a good choice anyway. Then we went to the football where Real Gothic got stomped by the Whitby Gazette team. [livejournal.com profile] asw909 played very well, and just missed scoring a goal. He hit the top of the goal (the bar?) and it bounced off. It was very sad. Then there was another raffle, and I won a Manuskript CD, as did [livejournal.com profile] thedarkfairy. On the other hand, [livejournal.com profile] thegreatgonzo won one of the weirdest comic books ever. I tried reading some, but I just didn't get it. It's about nuns, apparently. Oh, but the venn diagram on the back was awesome. Circle A (big circle) - People who read comics; Circle B (small circle entirely inside circle A) - People who read this comic; Circle C - (largeish circle intersecting A but not B) - People who are underage or easily shocked. Right, probably not as cool when discribed in words. Then it was back to the house to eat pizza and get ready for Laughtons. The queue was the same as always, the music was 80's fantastic, and it was -ing hot. I mean BOILING. But we survived. And had fun. And I got to chat with some of the other Shefgoths, and see some of the people I'd met in the Spa as well. Then it was back to the flat. And ... no games. We were all just too tired.

Monday Morning:
Up at 9:20!!!! No, really! I heard Fnord and Fairy leaving, and decided to get up and go meet them at the arcade. When I got to the arcade it was closed, so I called them, and found out they'd stopped somewhere for tea on the way. The arcade wasn't open yet so we walked to the end of the pier and back, then it was, and we played DDR and I played Pacman money eating machine again. Then back to the flat, but stopped off at the Shepherd's Purse for cake and tea. Then packing and leaving and driving home!

And that was the wonderful Whitby Goth Weekend.
(Ummm I should probably put some of that behind a cut.?)
